Destin History and Fishing Museum Annual Fish Fry
Held Saturday, February 27, 2010
The Destin History and Fishing Museum Annual Fish Fry held on Saturday, February 27 was very successful raising nearly $3,000. Money raised from the event will be used to complete our oral history DVD and kiosk project. The huge success was largely due to Destin’s community spirit shown through the abundant number of volunteers from the Destin Charter Boat Association, Rotary Club, Museum membership and community who helped out in all aspects of the event to the 275 who came and enjoyed the fish fry and visit to the Museum. Special praise to our Chef Lloyd Taylor and his crew, Lisa Firth of the Destin Community Center and her staff, Patrick Wilson and the band, “Cadillac Willy” for making the fish fry so successful. The generosity of donations from Harry T’s Restaurant, A.J.’s Restaurant, Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant, Buffalo Rock Company, Winn Dixie, Emerald Bay Golf, and Southern Star Dolphin Cruises made the event a reality. A generous donation has been secured for the Museum and the two swing gliders and matching table made by Museum member Capt. Reddin “Salty” Brunson have been donated back to stay at the Museum. These hand-crafted beauties can be seen and enjoyed at the Museum. Visitors also enjoyed viewing the Museum’s newest exhibit of vintage Heddon & Sons and Folk Art lures from the early 1900s.
